Question:
I would like to know where in the Bible it says that Mary intercedes between God and men; I ask you for one single biblical basis. May God guide you.
I ask for your opinion so that I can argue this matter. Thank you
Answer
The place where the Bible says that Mary intercedes between God and men is in the Gospel of John, chapter 2, verses 1-11.
1.- Jesus’ first miracle took place through the intercession of the Virgin Mary.
Let us explain this passage carefully to see what happened:
«Three days later there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
And, when the wine ran short, because the wine of the wedding had run out, the mother of Jesus said to him: «They have no wine.»
Jesus answered her: «What have I to do with you, woman? My hour has not yet come.»
His mother said to the servants: «Do whatever he tells you.»
Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding two or three measures. Jesus said to them: «Fill the jars with water.» And they filled them to the brim.
… The steward said: «Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, the inferior one. But you have kept the good wine until now.»
Thus, in Cana of Galilee, Jesus began his signs. He manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him».
Jn 2:1-11
Mary intercedes before God for men. Let us explain:
*There Mary sees that there is a need “And, when the wine ran short, because the wine of the wedding had run out, his Mother (Mary) says to Jesus: “They have no wine.” Jn 2:3
*Jesus answers her “What have I to do with you, woman? My hour has not yet come.” Jn 2:4
*This answer is because Mary is obviously asking Jesus, who is God (Jn 1:1; Jn 5:23; Jn 20:28), to do something about the need that was there.
* So that is interceding; and if she did it in favor of the people who were celebrating that moment, then she interceded for those men. Jn 2:6
In this way, a person who wishes to know a biblical passage where Mary intercedes before God for men need only read this biblical passage, where these four aspects come together:
1) Mary
2) Interceding
3) Before God
4) For men.
2.- If she interceded while on earth, all the more will she do so while fully united to God in heaven.
Of course, if Mary interceded here on earth, all the more will she do so now that she is fully united to God, for the Apostle Paul says that love never passes away.
If Mary interceded here out of love, now there she will be able to do so much more.
“Love never fails. Prophecies will pass away. Tongues will cease.
Knowledge will pass away.
1 Cor 13:8
Moreover, if Jesus Christ heard and answered the prayer of the wrongdoer for one moment of faith when he was on the cross (Lk 23:42), all the more will he hear his mother (Lk 2:16), who perfectly did the will of God and said: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to your Word” Lk 1:38
If for one minute of faith he heard and answered the wrongdoer, what will Jesus not do for his mother, who had a life of faith and obedience?
Remember the Apostle James speaking about intercession:
“The prayer of the righteous has great power”
Jas 5:16
That is how strong Mary’s prayer and intercession will be.
Note: The Protestant error occurs because the passage of 1 Tim 2:5, where it says that Christ is the one mediator, is misinterpreted. There it is referring to the fact that salvation comes to us only through Christ, and on that we are 100% in agreement. Catholics do not believe that the saints or Mary are our saviors. We believe what the Bible says: that we can all intercede for one another. The unique mediation of Jesus Christ is not opposed to intercession. In fact, the Bible says that we are all intercessors:
“Pray for one another, interceding for all the saints” (Eph 6:18)
